Cowley Pioneer Day

July 13 - This is the trailer for the float.  We have only just put the one side of trim on it.

Picture of my kids decorating the material for the teepee with hand and foot prints.

When I picked it up, there was a nice trail of paint on the floor!
 Jaxon's lovin it!
July 19 - We've finished the sides and have now added a few props to the top of the trailer.

July 23 - The day of the parade!  I panicked this morning because we had to get last minute replacements for the May boys (Brenen and Cason volunteered) and then we had to get costumes (got them about twenty minutes before they needed to be on the float).

Kyra and Zoey running their lemonade stand.  They stayed there for a couple of hours after the parade got over and made almost $30 by the time they were done.

 Our float in the parade...
Notice the kids on the right...they were supposed to be praying around the bed as a family...guess they got tired of that already!

 Waiting for the candy!
Later that afternoon, we all decided to go up to Porcupine Campground and have a picnic.

Then we hiked to Porcupine Falls.  That was fun!

Jaxon wanted to walk all the way down, but it made me nervous because it got a little slippery and there were some steep edges off the side of the trail I thought he could fall down into, but he insisted.

We made it!  So pretty!

Sadie had a heck of a time going back up the trail, as did we all!  And, of course Jaxon made me carry him all the way back up to the top because he was really tired!
Wow, what a hike!

Bedroom Makeover

July 20 - I finally broke down and let Rylee paint her room. She wanted to paint it all of these bright colors and I was a little hesitant about it. But then I changed my mind since it's her room and she should have the freedom to do with it what she wants. We started out with the plan to paint a second coat, but when we ran out of the magenta, we liked the look of it not being completely covered, with some white showing through. It actually turned out pretty cool and I think I like it. It will look even better once she decorates her walls.

All finished!
She didn't want to have to clean up the mess afterwards!

My Garden

July 17 - My corn is already way taller than it was last year.  My peas have come and are almost gone and tomatoes are growing!  My onions are delicious and carrots nutritious!

Grasshoppers are killing a lot of my gladiolus... I finally sprayed them the other day, but not sure if it's helping.

4 Wheeling - July 16

We drove up John Blue today.  Stacy had to turn around and go back with Mckayla because the sun was just too blazing hot.  The rest of us went up around Devil's Canyon.

 Stopping for cookies and water...
The road to John Blue was washed out so had to take a detour.  This is the road, coming back.

Another road that was washed out
The water's really high around the bridge
