4th of July Camping Weekend

July 4-6  We camped for town nights at a campground down the Dayton Gulch Road, the same place we camped on Labor Day last year.  It was really nice and we didn't have any real close neighbors while we were there.  Still a little snow around the area, but the weather was beautiful!

 Chopping firewood...

 Going for a ride...

 Playing volleyball...
 Getting stuck...

Found this amazing field of flowers while taking a ride...

 Autumn, frolicking in the flowers....

Our dinner that night was Boy Scout Dinners, (potatoes, onions, carrots, peppers, and hamburger patties wrapped in foil and cooked on fire)  Yummy!

Kids in a huddle; what are they up to???

Jax and his Mac 'N' cheese...

Fixing dessert:  peanut butter, marchmallows, and chocolate chips in a sugar cone and melted on the fire in foil...Yum!

 Playing more vball...
 Jax and Mack wrestling...
 Chilling out around the fire...
I didn't sleep very well in tent that night cause the ground was hard and I just wasn't very comfortable.  Didn't ever get really cold, but just wasn't cozy.  Jax slept with me and Dave in the tent and he slept like a rock all night!  Next morning, Dave starting fire with blow torch...

Breakfast of bacon, eggs, and pancakes...

Getting ready to do some 4 wheeling!!!

 Nice dirt face...

Uh Oh, we're not going to get across here...

Turned back around and had to get across this part again...
 Ended up getting stuck...
 Taking a break to picnic...

While we were here, I took a potty break and found the perfect potty log.  Just as I was about ready to squat, I looked up and saw movement behind the trees.  It kind of looked like a dark, skinny shadow, but I didn't get a really good look since it freaked me out and took me by surprise.  I saw it and immediately ran in the opposite direction.  When I looked back, I didn't see it again.  When I told everyone about it, they all though "sasquatch".  I knew that wasn't what it was, but I wasn't exactly sure what it really was, so I played along just for fun.  Me, Stacy and Aut went back up through the trees to check it out.  Stacy found what she thought could be footprints where the dirt and stuff was packed down and some fresh dirt track where the dirt had been kicked up.  I found it kind of funny, but still mysterious since I didn't know what it was I saw.  We all had fun with it and joked around with the kids about it.

Afterwards, we all kicked back to take a break at camp...
While the kids hula hooped or did whatever...

Later that day, we panned for gold, but came up with nothing....

After that, everyone took off except me, Jax, Zoey and Alan.  We saw some elk over yonder and decided to take a closer look.  We ended up hiking up a hill and through the pasture to get over by the trees where they were to get a close look.  They heard us and ended up scattering before we could get too close to see them.  So we ended up taking a long walk for nothing.  I was a little freaked out cause we were a long ways from the 4 wheelers and there weren't any campers or people in sight.  I felt like we were out in the wilderness where there could be bears or mountain lions and we didn't have any kind of protection.  Alan teased me about being scared and got quite a laugh out of seeing me freak out about it!
That night, we had beans and hotdogs for dinner...

We saw several deer with antlers on top go the hill next to our camp.  Quite a sight!!!

I slept in the camper that night since Autumn left to go home cause she didn't want to spend another night there with Ashlynn crying all night.  Dave was mad that I did cause he felt I should stay in the tent again, but I just wanted to be comfortable!  I slept a lot better so I'm glad I did!!!  Besides, Stacy said there were a gang of coyotes pretty close to our camp that started howling early that morning before the sun came up.  If I had been in the tent to hear that, I would have freaked out!!!  Breakfast this morning was sausage, eggs, hash browns and cheese in foil baked on fire.  So good!!!
 Jax and his Apple Jacks...
The flowers the kids had picked in the flower fields...

Taking down camp, getting ready to leave...

Me and Stacy drove the Flying Banana down the mountain since they couldn't fit it in the trailer with their other two 4 wheelers...

Had a great weekend!!!!
