So, on December 8, Dave texted me asking if I had heard of the custodial job that's available and that they have tried twice to fill it and both people haven't worked out. I said I had heard about it but I guess it didn't really occur to me to think much about it until he said it's 40 hours every week all year long with full benefits, paid holidays, weekends off. Sounded pretty good so I texted Kymbre first to see if it was still available and then I texted Betsy that I wanted to talk to her about it the next day. So, on Friday , I visited with her in her office about it and turned in an online application that night. The next Wednesday, they had me in for an interview and I was offered the job a couple days later, pending approval at the board meeting next Monday. I had visited with my director in Powell on Monday and gave her a heads up about the job and that I was applying for it and I officially turned in my 2 weeks notice on December 16. I was able to work an evening shift on my birthday, so I was able to visit with each resident and say my proper goodbyes in person to each one. They also had a white elephant party for the employees there and they turned it into a goodbye party for me as well and presented me with a signed card and gift. I will always cherish the relationships I formed here and the people I have worked with. They truly were my second family!!! Pretty sad to be leaving my 2 jobs, especially my cook job, which I still to this day, but I have needed a change for sometime now and am tired of working 2 jobs and struggling through the summer. I'm excited for this change...I just hope it's what I'm hoping it will be and is something I can do for as long as I need to!! On my last night, I took pics of all the rooms and hangout spots I will miss. I've spent a lot of time at this place and it really will be bittersweet ....
Update: As of right now (January 13), I have worked two weeks at the school. The first week, school didn't start till Thursday from Christmas vacay, so it was weird hours, mostly during the day helping Kymbre. This week I was trying to figure out what hours would work best for me...started out doing 4:30 to 7:30am to clean district office and then school from 1-6pm. Didn't like the early hours and not getting enough sleep, so I tried 1-6pm at school, coming home to eat dinner and have family time and then go back from 8-11pm to clean district office. Didn't like that either cause I lost my mojo when stopping and starting again. It was hard to get back moving after taking a break. So the next day, I tried working the full 8 hours from 1-9pm, but hated that too cause it seemed similar to an evening shift which I despise and takes me away from my family. So, the last two nights, I've done 10:30pm to 6:30am. Even though I hate doing night shifts again, this might be the best scenario, since it allows me to be home in the evenings and go to all of Jaxon's games and other activities. My plan is to work those hours Sunday through Thursday nights every week so I can have my Friday and Saturday nights off. Now that I've caught up on the cleaning in both buildings and they're being kept up on, it's really hard to take 5 hours for elementary school and 3 hours for district office cause they're both pretty clean, especially the office. This morning, I spent 6 hours at the school and 2 hours at the office and it seemed much better. I feel more comfortable at the school just cause the office is older and has creepier vibes. I can tell this work will get pretty tedious and mind numbing, so I'm hoping I can stick with it. It's also very lonely and isolated being there all alone in the middle of the night...I find myself actually missing talking to people....I;m hoping I don't have regrets about this....we'll see how it goes!
Used the Tik Tok ghost filter to see if any ghosts were hanging out in the hallway....HaHa!!
Last snap map of me at The Heartland....
Last morning leaving the Heartland and last drive home from Powell....sad :(
