Sourdough!!

January 26 - Instagram influenced me as people are making sourdough trendy again, so I gave into the hype and ordered a starter off Etsy since I've heard it's difficult to get started.  It came as a dehydrated powder that I had to rehydrate with water.  Didn't take long and it was rising and bubbling to the top of the jar.  At one point, it overflowed out of the jar and all over the counter while I was sleeping, so I had to graduate to a bigger jar that I found at Family Dollar.  I bought another one for the discard as well.  I'll try to add pictures of those later if I remember.  So far, I have made bread, cinnamon rolls, English muffins, banana cake and pancakes.  They've all turned out yummy except for my most recent round of sour dough breads.  Just a couple days ago, I tried to make 2 loaves at once, but the dough was a bit too sticky and they didn't rise very well.  Lesson learned.  I've had the starter sitting out on the counter until this morning when I finally put it in the fridge cause my discard jar is almost full and I'm getting tired of baking...phew!!  Putting it in the fridge will slow it down so I don't have to feed it everyday.  This has been a learning and growing experience as I knew nothing about sourdough before now.  Love it so far and hope I can keep it going for a long time!!!
